Before We Write

Have a seat. Settle in.
Allow yourself to land in your body.
Feel your body breathing,
Feel your ribs expanding with each inhale,
Feel your body begin to settle.

Let your shoulders drop, your jaw relax.
Breathing.
Let your spine be long and strong, let your neck be long.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Let your weight settle into your hips,
Dropping all the way down your legs right down to your feet.

And you’re still breathing.
Gently, naturally as a baby,
Ribs expanding with each in-breath,
Relaxing with each out-breath.

As I breathe in, I am aware I am breathing in.
As I breathe out, I am aware I am breathing out.
As I breathe in, I smile.
As I breathe out, I release.

As I breathe in and as I breathe out, I enjoy breathing.
Smile, release, enjoy.
